ELT Tester Rental – WST BT200
$375.00
Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELTs) are required equipment on most aircraft and must be inspected every 12 calendar months in accordance with 14 CFR §91.207, including verification that the unit is transmitting a sufficient signal, not just that it powers on. A common field practice is the quick “bump check,” where the ELT is activated and monitored over the aircraft COM radio; however, while this may confirm basic operation on 121.5 MHz, it does not verify actual signal strength, frequency accuracy, or the performance of a 406 MHz ELT system. In reality, it does not fully validate that the ELT will function as intended in an emergency.
FAA guidance emphasizes the use of proper test equipment to safely verify ELT performance while preventing false emergency alerts and unnecessary search and rescue response. The WST BT200 ELT Tester provides a compliant, professional solution by allowing verification of signal strength, frequency, and digital transmission for both 121.5 and 406 MHz ELTs, without radiating a live distress signal.
